Our first album NEON ON MY NAKED SKIN is out now
NEON SPACE MEN had a vision: “We’re creating an album that will join the ranks of the great pop albums of the 80s“.
The result is a long player that has everything to do justice to this vision: great melodies sung by a gifted voice, joie de vivre and melancholy, sugar-sweet pop and quantised hardness in the right proportions and an 80s sound that has not been heard for a long time, namely authentic, electronic and old school.
The album title NEON ON MY NAKED SKIN and the cover are a tribute to the 1984 album “Forever Young” and the song “Big in Japan” by ALPHAVILLE. The band made a 3D scan of the Hamburg bronze statue “Barmbeker Jüngling” to show the same face on the cover as Alphaville once did.
The album contains 10 songs (vinyl album) and additional 8 tracks on cd about love, pleasure, loss, passion, death and life.

Release of our 6th single SAILING 7 SEAS
SAILING 7 SEAS is a mid-tempo song full of unfullfilled longing. Each of the seven seas sung about is a metaphor for a love. At the end of the song, on the coldest of all seas, there is the realisation that great love cn no longer be found in this world. The most fervent wish is to be on a distant planet.
SAILING 7 SEAS is a duet together with Alex Braun, the voice of German’s cult synth pop band !DISTAIN. We are very proud of this collaboration and would like to thank Alex!

Release of our 5th single ELITA
Just in time of Christmas, NEON SPACE MEN‘s first ballad, ELITA, is released. The song is another precursor to the album NEON ON MY NAKED SKIN, which will be released on February 16, 2024.
ELTIA is a melancholic ballad in the electronic sound of the 80s. The song is a soulful memory of a loved one. ELITA symbolizes loss, love and memory.
ELITA appears as a digital release on all well-known online portals. In additional to the single version, ELITA is, as always, released as an extended version in the spirit of the legendary extended versions of the 80s. There is also a pianoforte version an the instrumental version of MOVING SLOWLY MOVING FASTER, another song from the forthcoming album NEON ON MY NAKED SKIN. MOVING SLOWLY MOVING FASTER in the instrumental version is like a flight through space and time in the best JEAN-MICHEL JARRE style.

Release of our 4th single SEEDS OF LOVE
The evidence is slowly converging on certainty: NEON SPACE MEN can do damn good electro pop! As a further harbinger of the debut album NEON ON MY NAKED SKIN, we chase SEEDS OF LOVE through the airwaves. The long player in question will be released on February 16, 2024!
SEEDS OF LOVE is a danceable up-tempo number in the best synth-pop style of the 80s. The song tells the story of a child who asks himself over and over again whether his father loves him. It describes the recurring struggle between the two and the fact that in the end there is love.
Love wins again.

Release of our 3rd single THINGS (THE BALLAD OF ADAM AND STEVE)
on June 28, 2023 we will release our third single.
Adam and Steve are the protagonists of our new single. THINGS (THE BALLAD OF ADAM AND STEVE) is the morality of two gay men in a world that still doesn’t naturally have equal rights.
Like the electronic pop music the NSM represent, gay and lesbian oppression was ubiquitous in the 1980s, peaking in Britain in 1988
CLAUSE 28 passed by Thatcher government in 1988, banned the “promotion of homosexuality by local authorities”, which meant that in all areas of public life only negative reports about homosexuality could be reported. Musicians and bands like Jimmy Somerville, Boy George or Chumbawamba vociferously resisted the inhuman legislation. However, CLAUSE 28 was only abolished 20 years ago in 2003.
NSM release THINGS (THE BALLAD OF ADAM AND STEVE) on June 28th, 2023, on the 54th anniversary of the Stonewall riots on Christopher Street in New York. The largest emancipation movement of the LGBT movement began on this day. The goal has not yet been reached. Love wins.

Release of our 2nd single TWISTED MIND
on April 13, 2023 our new single TWISTED MIND will be released.

NEON SPACE MEN – the last chapter of 80s synth pop
Imagine the 80s. Basildon. Manchester. Sheffield. The drum machine rattles the quantized beat. The synthesizer bubbles the bass line and a falsetto voice sings romantic-mystical lyrics in hymn-like melodies.
Synth pop conquered the world in the eighties and still creates the basic understanding for the perfect pop song today. NEON SPACE MEN stand for exactly that!
Jochen, Uwe and Oliver. Three synthesizer enthusiasts from Germany. They’re not from Basildon, Manchester or Sheffield. They come from Stuttgart, Hanover and Leipzig. They have been NEON SPACE MEN since 2022.
